Is it safe for pets and people?
Affects dogs, cats, horses. Signs: an intensely burning mouth and tongue, drooling, vomiting and trouble swallowing, caused by calcium oxalate crystals. Not listed under its own name — this follows Anthurium scherzeranum, which is.
The RHS harmful A–Z carries "Anthurium" at category C, which names the genus. ASPCA lists only Anthurium scherzeranum, so the pet warning is carried across from that species.
Checked against ASPCA and RHS on 2026-09-22.

First signs of trouble
- Two plants sold under one name. Roll the leaf stalk between finger and thumb: magnificum's is SQUARE with four flanges, crystallinum's is round. That is the whole test.Mistaken for a crystallinum · disorder
- Brown rims on the velvet, in room air. Like the regale beside it, this one wants a cabinet rather than a shelf.Crisping edges · disorder
