Last updated 6 September 2026 · Sill/Patch is in beta
These are the terms between you and Sill/Patch. They are short on purpose. A wall of clauses nobody reads is not an agreement, it is decoration.
The short version. Keep your plants, share them if you like, be decent to the people you share with. We will look after your data and tell you the truth about it. The app is in beta and free; some of it will break, and none of the advice in it is a substitute for your own judgement about a living thing.
Sill/Patch helps you keep houseplants and gardens: a schedule, a record, a reference library, and an AI gardener called Sage who identifies plants and suggests what is wrong with them.
It is currently in beta. That means it works and is being used for real, and also that features change, some things are switched off, and you may meet a bug before we do. Your data is real and is kept — beta describes the software, not your plants.
Your plants, photographs, notes and recordings stay yours. We do not claim ownership of any of it and we will not use it to advertise anything.
We need your permission to do the obvious mechanical things — store it, back it up, show it to the friends you share it with, and send a photograph to an AI provider when you ask for a plant to be identified or diagnosed. That permission ends when you delete the thing, or your account.
If you submit a photograph to the reference library, you are asking for it to appear on a page every signed-in keeper can see. Only submit pictures that are yours and that you are content to make public. A person reviews every submission before it appears, and you can ask us to take one down afterwards.
Sharing is by invitation and acceptance, both ways. Nobody can put a plant, a photograph or a note in front of you without your having agreed to be their friend first.
When you use notes, the house rules you accepted in the app apply:
Block takes somebody out of your account entirely: the friendship, everything either of you shared, and any way for them to reach you. Unblocking does not put any of that back — you would each have to agree to it again.
If somebody breaks these rules we may hide a note, suspend an account, or both. We will use the smallest measure that answers the problem.
Sage is a helpful gardener, not an authority. Plant identification can be wrong. A diagnosis can be wrong. A watering schedule is a starting point, not a prescription — the plant in front of you knows better than the app does.
This matters most in two places, so they are called out rather than buried:
We are not liable for a plant that dies, a crop that fails, or a decision you took because the app suggested it. Use your own judgement; it is better than ours.
Sill/Patch is free during the beta. There is no billing, we hold no card details, and there is nothing to cancel.
There are tiers — Free, Home and Pro — which set how many plants, spaces, photographs and AI calls an account gets. When paid plans start we will tell you well before anything is charged, and you will have to agree to it. Nothing will begin billing by itself.
If you joined during the beta, you keep Home free for six months from the day charging begins. There is nothing to claim and no card to give — it simply carries on. When those six months are up you choose a plan or stay on Free, and nothing is deleted either way: see “If you go over a limit” below.
Your account goes read-only for new things: no new plants, spaces or photographs. Everything else carries on — watering, viewing, exporting. Nothing is archived, hidden or deleted, and no space disappears. You will be told in the app when it happens and why.
Export everything from Settings whenever you like, as a single file you can keep. To close your account, write to support@sillpatch.com from the address you signed up with. (There is no button for it yet; there should be, and saying so seemed better than pretending otherwise.)
We may suspend or close an account that is being used to harass somebody, to break the law, or to attack the service. Except where something is seriously wrong, we will tell you first and give you a chance to take a copy of your data.
We will try to keep the app up, quick and correct, and we will not promise it will always be any of those. It is provided as it is. We are not liable for indirect losses, or for anything beyond what the law says cannot be excluded — and nothing here limits your rights as a consumer, or our liability for death, personal injury or fraud.
These terms will change as the app does. If a change actually affects you — billing, what you may do, what we may see — we will tell you in the app rather than edit this page and change the date at the top.
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer elsewhere, this does not take away rights you have where you live.
